This household, being the first, was subject to a lot of my awe at the novelty of having a friendly neighborhood. As time goes by, however, I try to go through each house as quickly and efficiently as possible. I do not allow for autonomy very much, anymore, and micromanage absolutely everything. T'was not so in the beginning... as you can see poor Volpps suffer from. But is it really better now that I am a slave driver?
Some rules that are obviously changed: probably because of my downloads that I do not care to hunt for, storing crops and fish does not allow for sparkly food or for filling up the normal food supply. It fills up the 'fresh food' meter, but not the other. So I boolProp to refill the fridges, and sell everything they catch and grow. Which is a lot.
I hate restricted diets. Seriously, all they can eat is fish? I think not! So they are allowed to have every possibly-anachronistic food item available.
I follow the five-bed spaces rule. But since the rules say NOTHING of toddler/baby items (or animal items, for that matter), at first I took it to mean that the children are miserable/restless... but that's silly! Even the clueless mother will lie her baby on something soft! So I have allowed unlimited cribs, Inge's endless baby bottle (just for my own selfish ease, I realize), unlimited toddler toys...
I was a bit standoffish about pets with nonsense like 'they have to prove themselves' missing out on possibly great pets; though I am happy with the pets the families have right now.
I am thinking about possibly allowing more autonomy for the fifth round. In round 5, I also intend to introduce a wave of orphan girls for adoption, and to give every family a telescope so that I may get some abductions (which could give me supernaturals). But before round 5, I must post the slideshow of each of the family's progressions through rounds 1-4.
